SONG OF THE WEEK!!!

“Let’s Get it Started” by The Black Eyed Peas. Originally titled “Let’s Get Retarded,” it is the fourth single from the 2003 album Elephunk. The 2004 single release of the song was remixed differing in lyrics and beats. The song was remixed for The Black Eyed Peas' fifth studio album The E.N.D. released in 2009 as "Let's Get Re-Started". "Let's Get it Started." The song won Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 2005 Grammy Awards and was also nominated for Record of the Year and Best Rap Song. It peaked the charts at positions such as #8 on Billboard Digital Songs, #4 on Billboard Pop Songs, and #21 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was included on the soundtrack for the 2006 romantic comedy It's a Boy Girl Thing. The Black Eyed Peas are Will.i.am, Apl.de.ap, Taboo and Fergie. 

While the lyrics are essentially nonsensical and without meaning, this song still has a club hopping, booty-shakin’ beat. Yea, booty-shakin’. I said it. What!? It starts out slow and gradually builds up until suddenly your head starts bobbing and you didn’t even realize it. The harmonies are complex and sweet as candy. The riffs are smooth and funky. Beats thump hard, fast, and hit you right in the throat with highly emphasized bass drums. The synth has throttle, torque and all else that implies. If you haven’t heard it yet then you simply must. Let’s remedy that right now. “The feeling’s irresistible and that’s how we’re moving” it coo-coo and keeps running. Get some!!!
